University Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Universities play a pivotal role as innovation drivers and can be key to socio-economic growth. Our University Entrepreneurship initiative is an all-around/multilayer programme that aims to contribute to the strengthening of an environment conducive to enabling potentially ground-breaking solutions find their way to the market (to real-life applications) and create impact in society and the economy. The initiative applies both a top-down and ground-up approach, promoting international know-how sharing and delivering trainings to management-level officials, teaching staff, TTOs, researchers or students.
The “Masterclass Series: the Entrepreneurial University”, just like the name implies, is a series of Masterclasses for university management and teaching staff of all faculties during which expert trainers share know-how, insights and expertise from the Dutch university ecosystem and other universities from around the world. Using learning-by-doing tools and case studies, the subject matters include entrepreneurship activation programmes, designing change-maker entrepreneurship education courses across faculties and using value-creation pedagogy approaches, setting up TTOs, understanding university incubator business models and much more, with the aim to help universities build in-house capacities and connect them to both local and international entrepreneurial ecosystems.
The programme is co-organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Greece and Orange Grove, in collaboration with the Hellenic Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, and is powered by Preneurz Amsterdam.
The SciTech Bootcamp deep-dives into the various aspects of technology transfer and commercialization and is addressed to teaching staff, researchers and postgraduate students. Through intensive workshops local experts deliver a crash-course in taking technology and scientific innovations out of the university laboratories and into the market. Participants work on important milestones of their commercialization journey, such as Intellectual Property protection, commercialization action planning and building their business model for a potential spin-off that is sustainable and creates value. The programme is powered by Aelia.
Entrepreneurial ecosystems need a large starting base to funnel the necessary pipeline of innovative venturers who will eventually succeed in building the startups that will, in turn, create job positions, boost innovation, and create impact and growth. The bootcamps aim at cultivating entrepreneurial thinking and inviting students of any faculty, not just business schools, to consider positive-impact and innovation-driven entrepreneurship as a possible career path. Such bootcamps are organized periodically and vary in themes and structure.
