
The 13th edition of the Squeeze took place on the 14th of May 2019.
This Squeeze was a special edition as the Netherlands Embassy and US embassy in Greece collaborated in the run-up to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit taking place in The Hague this year. The Squeeze therefore became an official Road to GES event. This year’s Squeeze focused on innovative Food and AgriTech startups giving the floor to eight ambitious and talented startups to pitch their ideas on stage in front of an international and distinguished jury panel.
This year’s jury included:
- Alphons van Broekhoven, Director at Reggeborgh;
- Amu Fowler, Managing Director at ViveDC;
- Arjan de Jong, Specialist Lead Data & Analytics at Vattenfall;
- Marisa Antonopoulou, Business Development Manager at Action Finance Initiative.
Presenter of the evening was Jan Franke, Dutch journalist in the field of Technology and Innovation, a startup enthusiast and mentor based in Tel Aviv.
The first prize, a trip to the Netherlands to attend the GES summit in the Hague, one of the most important business meetings internationally, was awarded to BioCoS. BioCoS delivers DNA authenticity of botanical raw materials used in products of food industry.
The Second prize was received by Peace by Peas. Peace by Peas produces fermented foods that help professionals address the modern consumer needs for better nutrition and taste. They won an educational trip to the Netherlands, including visits to Unilever and Friesland Campina.
The Squeeze #13 was complemented with exciting Pre-Squeeze events and trainings, including the well-known ‘Orange Stories’, a panel discussion with the members of our prestigious jury panel, taking place a day before the Squeeze.

Eight ambitious startuppers pitched their idea in front of an amazing audience and distinguished jury panel for a chance to win €15,000 and €10,000 in prize money: the ultimate kickstart!
As March 8th is International Women’s Day, this edition of The Squeeze highlighted gender diversity and female Leadership in Entrepreneurship! Our jury of internationally acclaimed professionals included:
- Gigi Wang, Industry Fellow Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology, UC Berkeley;
- Dr. Sharon Freeman, Chief Executive Officer at Gems of Wisdom Consulting, Inc. (GWCi);
- Hiro Athanasiou, former EVP and Managing Director Unilever Greece & Cyprus;
- Myrto Papathanou<, Partner at Metavallon VC.
INOMO won the first prize of €15,000 and PGENius won the second prize of €10,000.

The Squeeze #12 was complemented with exciting pre-Squeeze events including a workshop and panel discussion with members of our prestigious jury panel, the previous day.
Furthermore, for this edition of The Squeeze, our events were also supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in Greece.

The 11th edition of The Squeeze was held on Thursday the 23rd of November 2017.
The host and presenter of the 11th edition of the Squeeze was Mrs. Sia Kossioni. Robin Schuil presented the pitching part of the program. The jury consisted of Hella Hueck, Angelos Angelou, Philipp Brinkmann and Marco Veremis, who selected the two lucky winners.
FOODAKAI won the first prize of €15,000 and Kontolixima won the second prize of €10,000.

The 10th edition of The Squeeze was held on Tuesday the 27th of June 2017.
EasyExports won the first prize of €15,000 and Arpato won the second prize of €10,000.

The 8th edition of The Squeeze was held on Thursday the 22nd of September 2016.
B2B Wave won the first prize of €15,000 and Family Goes Out won the second prize of €10,000.

The 7th edition of The Squeeze was held on Thursday the 23rd of June 2016.
Six Thirty by Alexia won the first prize of €15,000 and Humane won the second prize of €10,000.

The 6th edition of The Squeeze was held on Tuesday the 10th of March 2016.
Peter Economides (brand strategist, Apple’s “Think Different” campaign) headed the judges’ panel, which consisted of Gigi Wang (entrepreneur and Chair Emeritus of the MIT/Stanford Venture Lab), Koen Thijssen (former co-CEO Asia-Pacific and Managing Director Benelux at Rocket Internet GmbH and founder of Bloomon; a 3.5 million funded startup) and Mareva Grabwoski (Founder and Vice Chairman of Endeavor Greece and Co-founder and Managing Partner of Zeus+Dione).
Keeppet won the first prize of €15,000 and Hopwave won the second prize of €10,000.

The 5th edition of The Squeeze was held on Thursday, the 10th of December 2015.
Peter Econnomides (Brand Strategist) headed the judges panel, which consited of Zooullis Mina (Chairman and Managing Director of Athenian Brewery), George Korres (Chairman of the board of Korres Natural Products), Jeremy Downward (CIO at Alpheus Advisors) and Marc Wesselink (Serial Entrepreneur and Selection Partner at Startup Bootcamp).
Vitabroad won the first prize of €15,000 and Made by, Creative Label won the second prize of €10,000.

The 4th edition of The Squeeze was held on Thursday, the 26th of September 2015.
Once more Peter Economides (brand strategist Apple’s “Think Different” campaign) headed the judges, who decided which two of the 8 startups would win the €15,000 and €10,000 respectively.
He was joined by Scott Rafer (co-founder of various acquired startups and StartupBootcamp SF mentor), as well as Andy Angelos (social media expert, co-founder of the recently acquired SocialKaty and writer for Mashable), David Kadavy (succesful web design expert and author of Amazon’s #18 best-selling book) and George Cambanis (founding partner of Deloitte Greece, leading Deloitte’s Shipping & Ports industry group).
Blood-e won the first prize of €15,000 and Tipster11 won the second prize of €10,000.

The 3rd edition of The Squeeze was held on Thursday, the 11th of June 2015.
Once more Peter Economides (brand strategist Apple’s “Think Different” campaign) headed the judges, who decided which two of the 8 startups would win the €15,000 and €10,000 respectively.
The jury, which decided which two teams would receive the monetary prizes, was made up of Peter Economides (brand strategist Apple’s “Think Different” campaign, Marco ten Vaanholt (co-founder of BootupVentures startup ecosystem and the exclusive Cuckoo’s Nest social club in Menlo Park), Floris van Alkemade (co-founded 3 VC funds with 320M, €60+ seed and early stage startup investments), Apostolos Apostolakis (succesful serial entrepreneur involved in startups such as e-food.gr, doctoranytime.gr, e-shop.gr, taxibeat.gr) and Greg Birbil (former chairman and CEO of McCann-Erickson advertising agency in South Africa, Mexico and Greece, also creative director in Chicago, London, Tokyo and Madrid).
TomoTECH won the first prize of €15,000 and GirApp won the second prize of €10,000.

The 2nd edition of The Squeeze was held on Thursday, the 26th of March 2015.
This, the Jury which ‘squeezed’ 8 of the best startups in this thrilling competition, and decided which two teams received the monetary prizes, was made up of Peter Economides (brand strategist Apple’s “Think Different” campaign), John C. Fox (working with the founder of Flickr on The Findery), Costas Ziozis (vice president of CB Private & Commercial Banking) and Marco Veremis (founder of €15m backed Upstream, EY entrepreneur of the year).
Gigalize won the first prize of €15,000 and Clio Muse won the second prize of €10,000.

The 1st edition of The Squeeze was held on Saturday, the 13th of December 2014.
