Dishcover was honoured to participate as a panel member of the Next in Now Forum, one of the most important Greek conferences on tourism, including local and international participants. This year’s conference topic was “Greek Tourism, a National Affair: Challenges and Opportunities” and our panel specific topic “Innovation and Technology in Tourism Technology”. The panel was introduced by Mr. Dimitris Fragakis, Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), under the moderation of Mr. Panos Polizoidis.

The panel was consisted by:

  • Efstathios Efstathopoulos, Professor, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
  • Dimitris Oikonomou, Deputy General Manager, Small Business Segment Eurobank
  • Katerina Santikou, Managing Director, Workathlon
  • Savas Georgiou, Director, Welcome Pickups

Mr. Fragakis with his up-to-date knowledge on start-ups in tourism, recognised and praised their role to the business ecosystem. He also expressed the need of GNTO to support innovation in tourism, a statement that found support from Mr. Konsolas, (Deputy Tourism Minister), who was part of the audience.

During the panel session, we had the opportunity to present Dishcover’s progress, mission and core values and talk about the key sustainability aspect, which is in the DNA of Dishcover. At the end, all the panel members had the opportunity to express their recommendations to the policy makers regarding the still-in-flux tax and legal framework of start-ups.

At the end of the Forum, Dimitri gave a brief statement on ANT1 News, about Dishcover’s concept on food, history and technology, as well as our thoughts on the future of experiences in tourism.
